Big raid busts small den

BOGOR: A joint team from the National Police, Bogor Police, the bomb squad and the police's paramilitary Mobile Brigade raided a gambling den in a small shop on Jl. Siliwangi on Wednesday, managing to seize Rp 27.7 million (US$3,259) in cash and hundreds of gaming machines.

The team also arrested 148 visitors and 42 employees at the gambling den.

"We needed the help of other forces as it is hard for us to deal with gambling in this town," Bogor Police chief Sr. Comr. Bambang Wasgito told The Jakarta Post.

He added that the police had identified a number of other gambling dens, but had yet to take action against them. -- JP
