TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Political oppositions, whether official or conjunctural, has dismissed President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's annual state address before the parliament to mark the independece day at the beginning of this week as unconvincing "camouflage" which failed to adequately address one of the most crucial problem of the nation, corruption.

Megawati Soekarnoputri chairwoman of the Indonesia Democratic Party for struggle described Yudhoyono's speech as "too plain".

Megawati said the speech failed to present the real economic, security and geopolitic problems. "There is the kerosene to gas conversion. Such matter should have received formal response at the August 16th speech, and what would the government do about the problem."

Treasurer of the party Olly Dondokambe focused his criticism on the state budget outlook that grew to Rp1,200 trillion which he said was merely "a camouflage to boast economic growth, which in the end will not completely be achieved."

United Development party in a written response said there are five shortcomings in the speech which include the absence of definite budget for corruption eradication. "And that is against the president's intention stated in his speech," the response read.

Danang Widoyoko, Chief Coordinator of the Indonesia Corruption Watch said the speech has shown declining motivation against corruption.

Another disappointed voice, this year, came from the pious quarter which said Yudhoyono only paid attention to economic and politics. Two abused groups the Ahmadiyah sect and Christians who recently face violent curb by the Islamic groups have expressed their "concerns".

Ikrar Nusa Bhakti, a political analyst with the Indonesian Institute of Science said claims of being the world's third largest democracy is dismissed by the attacks on Ahmadiyah sect.

"Too bad so many problems unsettled," Megawati said.
