Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla has proposed the revision of Government Regulation No 6/2006 on management of central and regional government-owned property to support the government`s program to accelerate development of flats, a cabinet minister said.
"The vice president has asked that a study be made soon of problems and constraints hampering the program to accelerate construction of flats such as the clause in Government Regulation No 6/2006 saying that when a government property is to be sold, the price must be based on the property`s fiscal value. This stipulation had made land for flat development expensive and therefore, the regulation needs to be amended," Housing Development Minister M Yusuf Asyari said after a meeting with Jusuf Kalla here on Wednesday.
The vice president had also asked the home minister to issue a ministerial decree requiring regional governments to facilitate the issuance of permits for construction of flats.
It was also reported that the government will soon build 20 flats in Jakarta, Batam and Surabaya as part of the programs to speed up development of 1,000 flats cities across the country.
In the first stage, at least 52 flats are now in the process of construction and 28 other flats would begin to be built on December 3, 2007.
He said the 28 flats would be built in Jakarta, namely 13 flats in Cenkareng, one flat in Kedoya of West Jakarta, one flat in Rawasari, Central Jakarta, two flats on land belonging to the State Logistics Agency, one flat in Bukit Duri, five flats in Kemayoran and two flats in Kebagusan, South Jakarta.
In Surabaya, flats would be built in Siwalan Kerto and Mananggal respectively one, while 100 flats would be set up in Batam.(*)
