Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono launched an international workforce exhibition on marine and fishery sector at his office here on Thursday.

"In the name of God, I dedicate the launch of international workforce exhibition on marine and fishery sector, and I hope it will be an annual event every year," the vice president said.

On the occasion, the vice president also witnessed the signing of a cooperation among maritime affairs and fisheries minister, manpower and transmigration minister, and national education minister to open a joint information center on various job opportunities in marine and fishery sector.

Meanwhile, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Fadel Muhammad said the first ever international workforce exhibition would be an annual event.

Earlier from May 23-25, the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry also staged an an International Marine and Fisheries Job Fair (I`JO F.M 2011) at the SMESCO UKM building.

The Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry staged the international fair on May 23-25, 2011 in cooperation with the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry, the National Education Ministry, the Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Ministry, and the Jakarta Manpower Office.

Fadel said the first ever event was participated in by around 50 leading national and international companies in the maritime and fisheries fields, such as fishing companies, fish farming companies, marine and fisheries product processing companies, labor recruitment agencies and other companies from among others Japan, China, South Korea, and Spain.

The fair offered around 10,000 job opportunities to job seekers who could apply by directly coming to the fair grounds or apply online at www.jobfairkkp.com.

Fadel said here early this month that many countries had expressed their interest in recruiting Indonesian sailors in overseas marine and fishery related industries.

"Following increasing demand for Indonesian sailors from many countries, the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry (KKP) will make a new breakthrough to meet the request," Fadel said
