VEEP invites foreign investors to build infrastructure projects
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla has invited foreign investors to participate in the construction of infrastructure projects in Indonesia, including toll roads and power plants.
Speaking at the opening an Indonesia Business Roundtable forum at Hotel Mulia here Wednesday, he said that the Indonesian government will open opportunities for the construction hundreds of kilometers of toll roads, power plants and other infrastructure projects to foreign investors.
"Despite conflicts in several parts of the country, Indonesia has become more conducive to investment," he told dozens of ASEAN business leaders participating in the forum.
The Indonesian government has revised several regulations on taxation, infrastructurd development and bureaucracy to make foreign investors more interested in doing business in Indonesia, according to Jusuf Kalla.
The government is currently striving to further improve security stability to expedite the inflow of investment and the process of development in the country, he revealed
The Vice President expressed his hope that the Indonesia Business Roundtable forum will promote cooperation and the business scale for Indonesia, besides facilitating the exchange of information between business circles in the ASEAN region.
Attending the opening ceremony were President of the Kuala Lumpur Business Club Dr.Mohd Munir Majid, Head of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Muhammad Lutfi and Managing Director of PT HM Sampoerno Indonesia Martin King.
The Indonesia Business Roundtable has been organized as a follow-up to the visit of the Kuala Lumpur Business Club to Indonesia and the ASEAN 100 Leadership Forum 2006. (*)
