Palembang (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla has called on University Alumni Association (IKA) to help create job opportunities through the introduction of new innovation.
"The Alumni Association of whatever university should be able to create job opportunity for their junior colleagues," the vice president said in his address at Sriwijaya University Alumni Association national congress here on Monday.
He noted that the alumni association should not merely be a nostalgic arena for graduate students of various fields of study but also be able to introduce new innovations which provide other people with job opportunity.
Besides innovation, Kalla added that a university should also be able to create alumni with entrepreneurial spirit because innovation, accompanied by entrepreneurial spirit, would contribute to the development of a nation.
"Innovation with strong entrepreneurial spirit will support the development of a nation. Therefore, an educational institution with future orientation is expected to produce alumni who have innovation and enterpreneurial spirit," Kalla said.
In the Sriwijaya University (Unsri) Alumni Association national congress, the vice president was inaugurated as an honorary member of the association.
Kalla`s inauguration was marked with the presentation of Unsri jacket by the university alumni association chairman and South Sumatra Governor Syahrial Oesman. (*)
