Telkomvision, a pay television operator in Indonesia, launched Thursday a prepaid TV in a bid to net more subscribers.

The company has aimed at increasing subscription rate to 500,000 this year, up from 300,000 last year.

President Director Telkomvision Elvizar KH told reporters the prepaid system created more flexibility for subscribers in selecting TV program packages.

“Subscribers will buy voucher and choose TV program packages like news, education, sport at various prices,” he said, adding that the company provided vouchers worth from Rp 50,000 up to Rp 300,000.

He said that the voucher would be available for one month.

Telkomvision is also developing a direct-to-home (DTH) pay TV system due to be released in the second semester of 2010.

Telkomvision is managed by PT Indonusa Telemedia, a subsidiary of state telecommunication company PT Telkom.

Being a part of the Telkom Group also helps Telkomvision in terms of synergy and market penetration.
