TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Overall tax income down 3.01 percent in May 2009 from the same period last year, as a result of decreasing tax revenues from non oil and gas commodity and property, the Finance Ministry reported on Tuesday (16/6).
During a meeting with the House of Representatives, Minister Sri Mulyani reported that despite a rise in non oil and gas commodity tax revenue from Rp 109.8 trillion a year earlier to Rp 118.7 trillion, overall tax income was down Rp 6.7 trillion in May this year to Rp 210.7 trillion.
Tax revenue from oil and gas sector dropped around 23.2 percent to Rp 21.4 trillion from the same period in 2008.
Value added tax down to Rp 66.4 trillion from Rp 71 trillion a year earlier.
The largest percentage of drop was recorded in property tax. The ministry reported over 50 percent drop in property tax revenue to only Rp 4.2 trillion until May 2009.
