Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - Star-rated hotels in East Nusa Tenggara province saw a more than 4 percent increase in their occupancy rate to 60.08 percent in May from a month earlier.
The occupancy rate of star-rated hotels in the province rose to 56.06 percent in March, 56.23 percent in April and 60.08 percent in May, Head of the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Statistics Office Poltak Sutrisno Siahaan said here on Sunday.
The number of star-rated hotel guests stood at 5,346 in March, rose to 5,903 in April and further moved up to 6,452 in May, he said.
"The increase in the hotel occupancy rate in East Nusa Tenggara from March to May was caused by the growing business activities and the increasing number of domestic and foreign tourists," he said.
The tourists` length of stay at the star-rated hotels averaged 2.15 days in March, 2.29 days in April and 2.21 days in May, he said.
The drop in the tourists` length of stay to 2.21 days in May from 2.29 days in April was merely caused by unfavorable climate which caused tourists to cut short their stay, he said.
Meanwhile, the national average of tourists` length of stay in April was 2 days, he said.
