Singapore receives record visitors in June, RI the biggest source
Singapore (ANTARA News) - Singapore's visitor arrivals in June rose 5.3 percent from a year earlier to a record 787,704, the tourism board said Thursday.
Visitors from Indonesia, China, India, Australia and Malaysia accounted for 54 percent of the month's arrivals, the Singapore Tourism Board said.
Arrivals from Indonesia, the biggest source of visitors, were up three
percent in June to 167,000 followed by China which showed a 16 percent rise to 71,000, AFP reported citing the board.
India, the third largest source, saw travellers to Singapore increase three percent to 68,000. Australia followed with a 10 percent rise to 61,000 while Malaysian arrivals gained five percent to 56,000, it said.
Singapore's record 8.94 million visitors in 2005 generated 10.8 billion dollars (6.8 billion US) in tourism-related revenues.
