VIVAnews - South Korea voiced its interest to participate in the development of the Sunda Strait Bridge in Indonesia.

"[The South Korean] president sent his Minister of Economy to discuss about the project," said Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Hatta Rajasa, on Thursday. "I figure the value of the partnership may reach US$20 billion."

However, the government has yet to decide whether the cooperation will only deal with the financing or construction.

Earlier, China and Malaysia had expressed their interests in the bridge project.

It is planned that the bridge will span 2.2 kilometers long linking Java and Sumatra and is expected to cost the government by Rp100 trillion.
