Bengkulu (ANTARA News) - The construction of Nusantara I pier of Pulau Baai port of Bengkulu needs a fund of more than Rp36.6 billion, an official of the local port operator said.

"The construction of the pier is expected to be completed late this month and operated in September," Manager of state-owned port operator PT Pelindo II for Bengkulu, Indra Sani said here on Sunday.

The operation of the Nusantara I pier was aimed at smoothing the entry into the Pulau Baai port of ships because the supporting capacity of the present piers was still limited, while the number of ships which were willing to berth was high.

"The pier which is now being built could accommodate up to 8 ships at the same time," he said.
