Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono went to the office of the Directorate General of Tax Affairs on Gatot Subroto street to fill out yearly tax assessment (SPT) on Wednesday.
On the occasion, the president was accompanied by Tax Director General Darmin Nasution, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Coordinating Minister for Economy Boediono, chief of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Muhammad Lutri, Religous Affairs Minister Maftuh Basyuni and Cabinet Secretary Sudi Silalahi.
After filling out the SPT, Yudhoyono left the tax office immediately without saying a word to waiting reporters because the head of state was in a hurry to go to Subang district in the morning.
Meanwhile, Darmin Nasution said Yudhoyono`s presence at the tax office to fill out the yearly tax assessment was a must for every citizen to do so every year.
"President Yudhoyono`s move is expected to motivate other state officials, private and civil cervants who have yet to have tax payer identification number (NPWP) to immediately finish their tax obligation," Darmin Nasution said.
He added that state officials who failed to do their tax obligation would be reported to their superiors to take action against them.
"If it is a civil servant at a certain department who disobeys the rule, we would report him or her to the related minister but if it is the minister himself, we would report him to the president," Darmin noted. (*)
