Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said that creative economy could bring in two advantages at the same time, namely pro-people economic growth and reinforcement of cultural identity which would enrich concrete national identity.

In his address at the opening of the Jakarta Fair (PRJ) and International Expo in Kemayoran here on Thursday night, the president said that economic growth which was born out of creative economy would serve as a correct and attractive means of enriching the nation`s cultural values.

"In order to achieve this we have to increase our technological capability which is not only effective and pro-green economy but is also based on our cultural tradition and unique creativity of the nation," the president said.

He said that the development of creative economy was in line with the country`s economic development direction which gave priorities to the inclusiveness and justice.

"With that principle, high economic growth and strong economic stability could be enjoyed by all groups of people in the country. With that principle, we want the people`s prosperity to spread evenly and the number of unemployment and poverty to be reduced," the president said.

The Jakarta Fair which was opened by the president will last until July 11 at THE Jakarta International Expo in Kemayoran.

The theme for this year`s fair is "Jakarta Fair 2010 Participates in Strengthening National Economy" with the sub-theme of "The spirit of Jakarta Fair and Domestic Product Trade Promotion are Expected to Increase Employment and People`s Welfare."

The Jakarta Fair is held every year to mark the anniversary of capital city Jakarta. It is also held to coincide WITH the mid-year school holiday season for optimum visitors` turnout.

After delivering his speech, the head of state toured the fair and stopped at a few stands.

Several ministers concerned with economy-related affairs were present on the occasion including Industry Minister MS Hidayat and Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu. (*)
