Berlin (ANTARA News) - Visiting Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called on German investors to invest in Indonesia arguing that the investment and business climate in the country had much improved.

The Indonesian head of state made the appeal at a meeting with representatives of the German business community Tuesday night where he elaborated on the progress and achievements Indonesia had made over the past few years.

"We invite you to participate in our national development. Do come to Indonesia to invest because there are now plenty of investment and business opportunities there," the President told the German business makers.

The president made a brief overview of Indonesia`s development over the past 11 years, the problems being faced by the country, and the efforts being made to overcome the problems.

Yudhoyono said Indonesia was at present the third biggest democracy in the world after India and the United States and enjoying economic, investment, business, and political stability.

He also explained what the government would do in the next five years to improve the country`s infrastructure and public transportation networks, and the regulations it would issue to support the effort.

"Our target at present is to build better infrastructure and more efficient public transportation," Yudhoyono said.(*)
