Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is optimistic that Indonesia would be included in the group of five biggest economic powers in the world by 2030, if all the country`s omponents were cooperating in the management of natural resources and settle the problems facing the nation.
"With the high potentials of our human resources and natural resources, we could realize the nation`s dream of becoming a great nation if we could manage all these things very well," he said when receiving the leadership of the Indonesia Forum Foundation here on Thursday.
The meeting was attended by several ministers, governors and mayors as well as businessmen, including business tycoons Chairul Tanjung, Angky Camaro and Anthony Salim.
On the occasion, Chairul, chairman of the foundation, explained some visions that could be applied to make the nation`s dream come true.
He said a nation could be categorized as a developed one if it was supported by four factors, namely a per capita income of US$18,000 per year by 2030, the sustainable management of natural resources, and leading a modern life, that later might bring at last 30 Indonesian companies to be included in having a fortune of 500 leading companies in the world.
"With a per capita income of US$18,000 per year, Indonesia will rank fifth after China, India, the United States and the European Union," he said.
Indonesia, he said, now belonged to the group for low-income countries (which may last until 2015), but an industrialized Indonesia may earn a huge income.(*)
