Pandeglang, Banten (ANTARA News) - National company PT Geulis Tebu Perkasa plans to build a sugar mill and open sugarcane plantations in Pandeglang district, Banten province.

The company had already applied for a permit to build a sugar mill and open sugarcane plantations, Head of the Pandeglang Integrated Licencing Service Board (BPPT) Djadja Suhardja said here on Thursday.

"The company has filed an application to BPPT for such a permit and we leave the matter to the district legislative council (DPRD) to discuss it," he said.

Under the regulation, any investor wishing to open sugarcane plantation covering at least 1,000 hectares must secure a permit from the DPRD, he said.

He said PT Geulis Tebu Perkasa planned to open 15,000 hectares of sugarcane plantation in Cigeulis subdistrict.
