Ministry proposes concerted agricultural subsidy
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture has proposed to the government the launching of an integrated agricultural subsidy in order to regain Indonesia`s past success in food self-sufficiency such as that in 1984, an official said here on Monday.
Head of the minsitry`s Economic and Social Affairs Analysis Center Tahlim Sudaryanto said a concerted agricultural subsidy unified all subsidy policy instruments such as price subsidy and working capital subsidy in one package.
"So far, we know that the input subsidy design and output price support are still being partially carried out," he said.
He said that partial subsidies included the one given through the highest retail price rate (HET) to fertilizer, which was not based on the basic price of unhulled rice.
