TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: PT Medco Energi International Tbk. will collaborate with Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Co. Ltd for the construction of a nuclear-powered electricity generating plant (PLTN) project.

The plan of the Panigoro family’s company was conveyed by Waryono Karno, Secretary General of the Energy and Mineral Resources Department, today (25/7).

According to him, Medco and Korea Hydro have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on ‘Cooperation in the Nuclear Power Project Business Preparation in Indonesia Looking at Possibility Using an IPP Scheme’ on Wednesday (25/7) in Seoul, South Korea.

“Both parties are about to carry out exploration and preliminary discussions,” said Waryono in Jakarta, on Wednesday.

He went on to say the agreement between Medco and Korea Hydro was business to business, under the aegis of the agreement between the two governments which was made in December, 2006.

“However, the discussion between the two companies has not yet agreed on either the PLTN location or the investment amount,” said Waryono.
