Korindo to produce wind mill tower

Sport shoes manufacturer PT Kostra Mas Jaya, a joint venture between Panwell Industrial Ltd (BVI) and PT Garuda Indawa, is expanding its business to produce wind mill tower with investment up to US$20 million. What a leap!

Kostra Mas--a member of Korindo (South Korea-Indonesia) Group---is known as contract manufacturer for famous sports shoes brands like Nike, Adidas, Puma and its own brand Eagle.
Late last year, Kostra Mas received approval from Investment Coordinating Board to enter the wind mill tower business. The plant is located in Cilegon, Banten province with estimated investment of US$20 million and open new jobs for 262 people. The plant will produce 300 units of wind mill tower per year.

wind power? in indonesia?? i don't think so. one thing i noticed when i first came to live here: there is not a lot of wind. reason? indonesia straddles the equator.

so, i think these fellows with the wind farm plan have not done their homework, or are scamming some international (probably european) aid fund.

maybe they want to export the wind mill towers. You're right about the lack of wind in Indonesia. Except however I think Merapi has a lot of wind right now. Imagine the electrical power you can generate when it blows. Imagine the advertising campaign Korindo could launch - how their windmills withstood the force of Merapi

yes, i think that's what they want to do. i would have thought though that it would be a good idea to test them before export. indonesians are not known for their committment to engineering excellence.
