Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Cooperatives, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Ministry has projected 15,000 new businessmen in the Jakarta and environs including Depok, Bogor, Tangerang and Bekasi this year.
"We will develop a national entrepreneurs movement program (Getuknas) for high school and university students, and unemployed youngsters," Cooperatives, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Minister Suryadharma Ali said in a Getuknas Coordinating Meeting here on Wednesday.
The minister said Getuknas was only a government`s effort to reduce unemployment.
"Unemployment can be minimized not only by creating job opportunity, but we also hope educational institutions would also prepare their students in becoming closer to the world of business," he said.
Therefore, the Getuknas program was an effort to teach students theories how to get close to business practices.
In the context of the ministry`s target this year to create 15,000 new businessmen in Jakarta and environs, his side had been preparing 1,000 motivators and facilitators.
The target will be directed at 6,000 high school students, 4000 university students and 5,000 dropouts.
Minister Suryadharma said that his side had proposed a program on Getuknas to the president. Luckily the proposal received appreciation by the head of state who would directly launch it on July 6, 2008.
"This program is expected to be launched nationwide, but for the time being as test-case will first be tried in Jakarta and environs," he said.
The minister further said that the essence of the program lies in the success of partnership between businessmen and the government.
Suryadharma said his side has sided with some other government agencies, educational institutions and business players such as the foundation of the Indonesian chamber of commerce and industry (Kadin), the management of industrial estates, modern retail shopping operators, and the Indonesian Franchising Association.
