Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Trade Ministry is exploring the posssibility of cooperation with retail trade firms in Japan and the USA to conduct in-store promotions of Indonesian branded products, the ministry`s chief said.

"With such a cooperation, we hope we can boost our exports. Apart from Carrefour, we will also cooperate with Del Heiz in Belgium," Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said here Thursday.

In the first phase of the envisaged cooperation, the promotions would focus on beverages and food products, garments and furniture. Later, the ministry would promote high-quality products and jewellery.

The minister is scheduled to visit France, Britain and Belgium Jan 25 through Feb 1, 2007 to promote trading and investment opportunities in Indonesia.

Accompanied by representatives of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Mari will attend a furniture expo in Paris, hold a business forum and a bilateral meeting with the European Union`s Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson.(*)
