JAKARTA, May 11 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government agencies have started researches to produce lubricant that uses oils processed from palms and castor in a bid to reduce dependence to fossil-based resources and address the environmental issue, local media reported Tuesday.

Evita Legowo, the director general of oil and gas agency at the energy and natural resource ministry, said that the researches to develop the lubricant, which she dubbed "Bio Lube Oil", are jointly conducted by Oil and Gas Research Institution (Lemigas), Research and Technology Implementation Agency (BBPT) and Bogor Agriculture Institute (IPB).

"We want to encourage lubricant producers operating in the country to mass-produce this kind of lubricant for domestic and foreign markets," Evita was quoted by the Detik.com as saying.

Production of such a lubricant gives an alternative for lubricant producers to use other raw materials instead of fossil- based oil, she added.
