Padang (ANTARA News) - Members of Commission V of the House of Representatives made a working visit to West Sumatra for an inspection of infrastructure construction activities and for a close look at site of the landslide at Anai Vallue on the Padang-Bukittinggi highway.
The group headed by Mulyadi inspected a number of mega projects in the province Monday, including the Kelok Sembilan bridge linking the province and Riau under construction.
The West Sumatra governor said during the inspection the building of roads and bridges in the provinve still needed a great deal of funds.
He said 60 percent of the Kelok Sembilan road has been completed.
Dody said the slow construction of the Kelok Sembilan road was caused by the lack of funding. Of the total of Rp256 billion needed for the project, only Rp129.755 billion had been allocated, and Rp126.244 billion would be necessary.
He said Kelok Sembilan will have five bridges with a total length of 711 meters and 1,350 meters of connecting roads.
Dody hoped Kelok Sembilan could be completed next year, as it has a very great significance to increasing the economy of the local population.(*)
