JAKARTA, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government was urged to develop growth centers in the eastern part to fill economic gap with western and central ones, a press statement said here on Monday.

Eastern Indonesia public figures, parliament and senate agreed that the economic gap pushed youngsters from the territory to come to the capital city of Jakarta with a dream of better living.

"However, it is very difficult to get jobs in Jakarta. Thus, with only capitals of body and courage, they work in 'an informal security service', employed by certain parties," said Jacob Jack Ospara, a priest who also serves as a senate member from the eastern Indonesian territory of Maluku province.

Unfortunately, said Herman, a public figure from eastern Indonesian territory of East Nusa Tenggara province who serves as a member of parliament, the youngsters are 'victims' played by the parties for the sake of pride and money.

"That's why, the central government must develop growth development centers in eastern Indonesia," they said. The press statement said that the comments were made in a meeting between those people following a bloody clash between youngsters from Maluku and East Nusa Tenggara who work in an informal security service last week, where three people were killed and several other were injured.

They also said that public figures from those areas will make a forum to facilitate communication and eternal friendship between youngsters who in the sector.

Deputy Chief of Jakarta Metro Police Brig. Gen. Putut Bayu extended his an appreciation on the meeting.

"The meeting showed that the spirit to settle the problem is extra ordinary," he said.
