Bogor (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government will continue campaigning for increased use of domestic products to maintain their leading position in the country, a spokesman said,

To that end, the government had asked all cabinet ministers to also appreciate and prefer to use domestic products, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Syarifudin Hasan said here Tuesday.

"The love for domestic products must continue to grow (and) ministers must appreciate and always prefer to use domestic products," he said after handing over aid in the form of an ambulance to Bogor Grand Mosque.

He said the impact of the campaign would be very big. "Clearly it will be big. If we love domestic products and use them automatically we will save them," he said while showing his domestically-produced shirt.

The campaign, he said, must be intensified by both the central and local governments so that all people would love domestic products.

He said it had to be done so that domestic products would be master in their own land.
The minister said it was the people`s consciousness that would finally protect the products from free market competition.

"If the people love the products automatically the products will survive the competition," he said.

He said the government would intensify the love-domestic-products campaign as part of its efforts to face free market competition.

The flow of Chinese products into the country, following the implementation of the free trade agreement with Chna was feared to eliminate local products unless efforts are made to prevent it.

Therefore, he said, his office would intensify the campaign so that all Indonesians would love their own products more.

He said the quality of local products was not inferior compared to products from other countries.(*)
