Foreign Investors Interested in Jakarta

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: : Investors still regard Jakarta as a city that is attractive in terms of investment.
“From the Jakarta International Investment Expo, five investors have already signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with us,” said Samsulhadi, Head of Investment Board for Jakarta Province, today (16/8).
Samsulhadi said that currently there are already two foreign investors who have invested in the National Bonded Zone.
The Taiwanese invests in textile to be exported and the Japanese invests in heavy machinery.
The investor from Taiwan has invested US$10 million and the Japanese US$5 million.
In addition, there are three local investors who invest in the property sector through PT Sarana Jaya.
“The local investors have invested a total of Rp400 billion.”
“There was one from China that is exploring the possibility of building a television station in Jakarta yesterday,” he said.
Samsulhadi also explained that some investors are also interested in transportation development such as the air bus network business.
In the first half of this year, the largest investor came from China, however, he did not want to reveal the amount of the investment.
