TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) said that all food products containing pork or those which have been processed alongside pork products, must display a red square with a picture of a pig.

BPOM chief, Kustantinah said that the picture must be displayed in every packaging of the product. This step is taken to provide proper information to the Muslim majority Indonesian people.

Kustantinah raised this issue at a hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VIII yesterday. Every food products must be checked according to guidelines and ordinances determined by the Religious Affairs Ministry and related agencies. “This is very important,” stressed Kustantinah.
