TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The focus of Ericsson's future investment in Indonesia will be addressed to multimedia.
This is because the growth of third generation (3G) cellular telephone customers in Indonesia is predicted to continue increasing until 2012.
Carl-Henric Svanberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Telefonaltiebolaget LM Ericsson, said that in the five years, said Carl-Henric, Ericsson is targeting that communication users will increase up to five billion people.
As regards Ericsson's sales throughout the world, the target is US$30 billion.
According to Hans Vestberg, Ericsson's Chief Financial Officer, Ericsson's sales in Indonesia this year are targeted to reach US$1 billion or around Rp9 trillion.
“We pay special attention to Indonesia,” said Hans in Jakarta, Monday (12/11).
Ericsson in Indonesia is a company in the field of mobile and fixed communication network services, as well as a solutions and infrastructure provider.
As for Indonesia, Ericsson's greatest income in the next five years is targeted to come from the network sector.
“The network will keep growing,” said Hans.
Internet protocol technology will also become more interesting so that fixed networks must still be developed.
Ericcson first supplied cellular networks in Indonesia in 1987 and is one of the first digital cellular network providers of global system for mobile communications (GSM) in 1995.
