TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) urged the Industry Department to have access to energy distribution. It is expected that this can answer the industry’s need of energy sources. “We’re tired, every Industry Minister’s promise to fulfill the energy need is always broken,” a Kadin member, Ahmad Safiun, told Tempo, yesterday (28/2).
He said that everyone in industry is complaining about many energy problems to the government but the complaints always do not result in anything. The reason is the decision maker regarding energy distribution is the Energy and Mineral Resources Department.
So far, said Ahmad, the energy problem is a ghost for industry . Energy needs, such as electricity and natural gas, always become a problem. The last time was that industry suffered losses due to blackouts in Java and Bali.
According to him, energy distribution is a matter of the government’s coordination. The peak of decision making on energy, said Ahmad, should be in the hands of ministers. “The government should not tell lies, industries cannot go on without energy,” he said.
Earlier, car component entrepreneur, Benny Kusbini, said that by the blackouts, there are more costs. “To keep the production process going, at least 50 to 100 liters of diesel oil are needed per hour,” he said.
Last year, the gloves and rubber industries underwent difficulties to obtain natural gas procurement. The two industries needed high pressure natural gas. The lack of gas made some industries replace the energy with coal.
