TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The State Electricity Company (PT PLN) will still put into effect a disincentive rate or Dayamax Program for industry using electricity at peak loads between 5pm and 10pm.
High oil prices have caused the operational costs of PLN to increase sharply.
Sunggu Aritonang, PLN’s Director of Commerce and Services, said that PLN would still apply the rate at peak load to industry while waiting for the realization of non-oil powered electricity generator in 2009.
“This is being conducted to safeguard the electricity supply,” said Sunggu last weekend.
The Dayamax Program has been applied since last year.
This program provides incentives to industries that are able to transfer their electricity usage to outside peak loads.
Industries that do not decrease their electricity usages will be given disincentives in the form of more expensive rates.
