TEMPO Interactive, Gorontalo: Clean Biofuel Pte. Ltd., a Singaporean company, will build a biofuel factory with an investment of US$190 million in Pohuwato, Gorontalo.
The factory and plantation that will cover an area of 40,000 hectares are planned to have an installed production capacity of 200 million liters per year.
According to Gorontalo Governor Fadel Muhammad, today the company has only planted castor and oil palm.
“Next year, we will start constructing and begin to produce by 2009,” said Fidel in Gorontalo, on Monday (03/13).
Dan Johnson, the spokesperson for Clean Biofuel, explained that his company has already carried out the planting process.
In the future, the plants composition will be: 70 percent oil palm and 30 percent castor.
“For the time being, our contractor, PT Skygem Agrisystem, is processing soil for seeding,” Johnson told Tempo, yesterday (03/13), at Djalaludin Airport, Gorontalo.
According to Johnson, the Gorontalo Provincial Government has issued a leasehold agreement with a concession time of 30 years to Clean Biofuel.
“After the concession time is finished, the contract must be renewed,” he said.
