Apr 07 14:27Chief economic minister optimistic on 6 percent growth
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Boediono expressed optimism that Indonesia could reach its target of economic growth of 6.2 percent in 2006.
"Personally, I believe that we can reach the six percent growth if we can maintain this favorable situation both in economic, social and political affairs," Boediono said here, Friday.
On a target of single digit inflation rate that is hopefully be reached by the end of 2006, Boediono said, there is no a bargain for the target.
"Target of single digit must be reached. If we still have double digit (of inflation rate) it will be an abnormal situation," Boediono added.
The government has set the target of inflation rate in 2006 at 8 percent.
While the central bank, Bank Indonesia or BI, has targeted economic growth in 2006 to reach 5.4 to 5.7 percent with inflation rate of 8 percent.(*)
