Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked business world to glance at business potential from gross domestic product (GDP) rather than from the state budget only.
Speaking at a function to open the 6th national conference of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) here on Friday, President Yudhoyono said the amount of gross domestic product in Indonesia had reached six times the value of the state budget.
Therefore the president asked the business players in the country to change their way of thinking by not viewing the business opportunity from state budget only.
"If we want to see a business or economic opportunity, do not see it only from the source of state budget but also from the gross domestic product," the president said.
On the occasion President Yudhoyono pointed out that the amount of 2010 state budget reached Rp1,100 trillion, but according to the latest census, Indonesia`s gross domestic product reached Rp6,370 trillion.
"It means that the GDP is six times as much as the state budget, and thus it will contribute to greater business opportunity," the president said.
President Yudhoyono also said he was confident that Indonesia`s economic growth would exceed 6 percent if all all existing problems and handicaps were professionally overcome.
"Let us work together to overcome the problem because we still have an opportunity for our economic growth," the president said, adding that the economic growth should be based on human resources development, technology, and innovation. (*)
