Pontianak, W Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) is gearing up for massive overseas campaigns starting next month to promote the country`s regional potentials.
"We aim to conduct the promotional campaigns in five to seven countries each month," BKPM Chief Gita Wirjawan said here on Friday.
Gita asked provincial, district and municipal administrations to send their representatives to join the Indonesian investment mission.
Before the promotional campaigns began the BKPM would map out investment potentials in various provinces, he said.
Gita said he visited 13 of the country`s 33 provinces in the past 45 working days. "If each province can realize a large-scale project it will have an extraordinary impact (on the local economy)."
The BKPM was prepared to assist regional governments in overcoming hindrances to the flow of foreign investment to their regions, he said referring to the East Kalimantan province`s success in attracting Rp49.4 trillion worth of investment from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The UAE companies invested among others in the construction of the province`s railway tracks, power plants and ports, he said.
He said the country`s future demand for huge investment would become the focus of the government`s attention.
West Kalimantan Governor Cornelis meanwhile said the province would hold a Borneo Investment Expo 2010 to promote local products. (*)
