Bio-fuel Factory Construction Plan to be Prepared
Monday, 03 July, 2006 | 14:25 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Purnomo Yusgiantoro, the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister, has said that the government is preparing an action plan for the construction of bio-fuel factories up to 2010.

Bio-fuel is an alternative fuel with castor oil plant as the base commodity.

“The plan will be supported by a road map and blueprint which are expected to be completed in the next two or three weeks,” said Purnomo in Jakarta, today (3/7).

According to him, the plan will be used as the basis for developing bio fuel.

Purnomo said he hopes that bio fuel will not be seen merely as an alternative energy to reduce fuel oil subsidies, but as also as an opportunity to create job opportunities.

The government, he said, hopes that bio fuel can reach many targets, not only in terms of energy but also in lowering unemployment, creating job opportunities and raising people's standards of living.

“Especially because Indonesia is an agrarian country,” said Purnomo.
